Just wondering how this is paleo with the sorghum in there?
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, I have been rather neglectful of my blog lately. I posted this recipe when I was still very new to Paleo and have since stopped using it. When I first began researching flour alternatives, Sorghum was one that kept popping up as a grass. I have since realized that it is not actually the grass part of the plant that is used for the flour but the seed which is a type of grain. It is well tolerated by the gluten intolerant but is not completely Paleo. I mainly use coconut and nut flours now. My kids can not take nuts to school though so if I am making for them I will use a mixture of coconut, tapioca and arrowroot flour. The tapioca and arrowroot are not good for someone who is on a paleo induction as they are high glycemic but as a better alternative to store bought, processed "treats", I am ok with it. I try to keep an open mind about everything that I read. In order to stick with this as a lifestyle and not become a weird fanatic I allow some things here and there that may not always be completely Paleo. There is a great quote in Paleo Comfort Foods by Julie and Charles Mayfield. In their book, the quote Andrew Badenoch at evolify.com "Paleo is a logical framework applied to modern humans, not a historical re-enactment." I love that quote, I don't necessarily cook according to the way a caveman may or may not have eaten. I cook good, whole, natural ingredients into great tasting, nutritious food and that is what works for me and my family. Thank you for reading my post and for your comment. I will change the name of the recipe to primal as it is not actually Paleo.
